My Story

I am a music education expert with over two decades of experience in piano and instrumental teaching. My expertise is regularly sought after by universities and conferences across the UK and internationally, where I am invited to speak on music education and pedagogy.

I have held teaching and mentoring positions at Queen’s University Belfast at the School of Music and Graduate School and currently serve as a Lecturer and Staff Tutor in Music at the Open University. I am also the founder and director of Enact Music, a global music education company dedicated to empowering music learners and teachers worldwide in discovering their musical potential and develop the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in the 21st Century.

Through Enact Music, we help teachers enhance their skills and achieve professional qualifications while supporting thousands of music learners in obtaining recognition from all major UK examination boards, including ABRSM, Trinity College London, London College of Music, Rock School, and MTB.

In addition to my teaching and leadership roles, I am an active contributor to the academic field, regularly publishing in renowned music education journals. I also serve as a peer reviewer for several academic journals in music psychology and music education.

As Director of the Certificate for Music Educators (CME) Level 4 course, accredited by ABRSM and Trinity College London at Enact Music, I authored the book Certificate for Music Educators: Teaching Children and Young People (Routledge, 2021), which remains the only dedicated guide for learners of this course.

Professor Oscar Odena of the University of Glasgow praised the book, saying:

"[It] offers a compendium on the practicalities of teaching in contemporary diverse settings, including studio, school, and community, all in a single volume. This is a strong book with little competition that fills a gap in the market."

My work continues to focus on advancing music education for both teachers and learners, promoting excellence in teaching and learning practices across the globe.
